I have just put on a brand new Alternator belt for my crank/alternator and power steering, as I was having the usual squeak.![Razz](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/razz.gif)
I have tightened it up, to about three quarters of the screw, but it still squeaked when pulling away in first gear,
So I tightened it up again to almost the end of the screw.............and today I again could hear the slight squeaking noise again.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Can I change anything else or maybe..................do I need a new alternator![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)

It could be the clutch release bearing. Does it squeak when not using the clutch?.
I too thought my belt was slipping but its the bearing thats doing it.

The only time I can hear it is when I'm pulling away in first gear,
I cannot hear it on start up and I don't hear it any other time!!!!!!!
If it is this bearing whats needed to sort it??
Kev.

Mine was making a stupid noise, all I done was loosend the bolt on the right hand side of the alternator, then slightly raise the alternator and nipped it up again, worked fine for me.
Hope that helps.
Loosen the belt first, then raise it, then tighten the belt.
