Default Knocklink as well as PFC?

I know that the Apexi PFC can be linked to the CEL on the dash, so is it worth getting a Knocklink aswell?

Depends on how paranoid you are about blowing your engine up?

Also depends on how high a knock count the PFC is setup to flash the CEL. Think it's set at a knock count of 60 out of the box IIRC. I would suggest this is too high.

For reference I've got both and on my car a PFC knock count of 30+ will flash the big red on the KL.

I had my PFC set at 20, and the CEL doesn't flash until it has breached the knock limit for a certain time, so it is posisble to get the knocklink to tick to the first orange for example and see nothing from the CEL, so both are a good idea unless your are in quite a low state of tune.

Is it possible to change this setting using the Commander?

I think that's only accessible through a laptop when it's being mapped. The commander can't access it. Mine is set for 30, but the whole time on the Commander you can have it monitored and set to show the peak values that come up. If it flashes the CEL it's bloody obvious, not the sort of thing that goes unnoticed. Since mapping the most I've had is 8 or 9 I think on a long full throttle run through the gears.

I have both, the commander gives a count of about 8-12 when going for it, but the knocklink indicates a first green only(set on max sensitivity) when reaching just over 6k revs, then I change gear- useful gear change indicator aswell.

For me, the CEL light doesn't get my attention like the KL red does in my pherical vision, so I think its essential IMO

I agree.
Since fitting the PFC, I've only managed to see the CEL once in 4+ times of breaching the limit.
I check the peak detect to find the Knock has breached the limit by 1 or 2 and I didn't spot the CEL.
Breaching my limit of 30 is just starting to tinkle/be audible with det cans.
In this instance the KL may of shown 2 greens max.

When it 'really' knocks the Knocklink is alot better at grabbing your attention.

I use both as well. Had the k/l before I got the PFC but as mentioned above it's better at getting your attention.
