right i bought a 1.4 escort estate l reg to potter to and from work cause i get so damn dusty, i paid £140 for it from my local auction, it was missing and cutting out all the time, wouldnt idle, my local mechanic told me the carb or the injection module was knackered, i replaced this and although it has cured the stalling probs it is still struggling for fuel every time i change gear, and when i start it up it revs high for a few secs, i stopped at the garage tonight and when i started it it was like the throttle was stuck on, has anyone got any ides please else its gonna go back in the bloody auction

sounds like a sticky idle speed control valve.
alot of the Ford ISCV clog up with carbon. If you can find it, take it out and clean it out with petrol or car cleaner.

yeah does sound like the old iscv, clean it out and then be prepared to do it again in a few months time
