Intake temp -40 deg ???
The nice people at Ashburton Subaru (Devon) plugged the diagnostic tool in for me today (having Idle problems). Anyway, apparantly the intake temp is -40 deg
Clearly it isn't, any idea as to why it would read this?
Hope there are some boffins around who might help pin point this anomoly.
Cheers

faulty water temp sensor, if it is giving a wrong reading to the ecu then it can cause all sorts of problems like adding to much fuel to start the car of not adding enough.
Did anything else show up on the diagnostics?
What year of car is it?

The O2 (lambda sensor) wasn't reading (I'm assuming it was disconnected/dmaged when the headers were replaced last week) so my garage are looking at that tomorrow. Other then that it was OK. I've been having idle issues so i've cleaned the ICV and replaced the (fecking) MAF. The water temperature guage seems to be working fairly normally. V.Cold for the first few miles and gradually warming to dead centre.

It means the sensor has failed open circuit, its either the sensor or the connection - if you have an inlet temp sensor? I didn't think the early cars had one.
No lambda sensor would give lumpy hot idle.
No lambda sensor would give lumpy hot idle.

It's an MY99 if that helps.
