Just received a replacement filter for my APS cold air induction kit & it comes pre-oiled.
Should I use a cleaner to remove the oil or are the K&N filters ok & wont damage the MAF.

The oil is there to trap particles that you dont want sucking in to your engine, I have a 57i fitted & have had no trouble with my MAF, a lot of reported trouble has been caused by ill fitting of the cone & pipe therefore causing vibration to damage the MAF.
On the flip side there is also a theory that oil will eventually get to the hot wire on your MAF and contaminate it also with potentially nasty consequences.

Well I periodically replace mine anyway, im not sure its ever been proven, but the theory is if the oil contaminates your MAF (in particular MY99-00) you run the risk of your engine running lean which is more than likely going to kill your engine.
There are far more knowledgable people on here who do use K&N's, Touch wood mines been fine for at least 3 years with it.
