Default Newbie with a rattling big end!

Hi there just bought a Lovely silver MY02 WRX its done 36k with FSH and a few prodrive goodies.I bought it in the full knowlage of the rattle, but trust me it came cheap.
Im hoping that i will be able to get away with just doing the bearings and at this stage its not knocking. Infact its more of an intermitant rattle, very faint sometime but louder other times. Ive not driven it yet and will be trailering it to my mechanic.
Reading posts about this problem will Subaru help at all even if out of warrenty? Only reason i ask is I own a Ducati and they have a know fault with the Rockers and even if out of warrenty (But aslong as Main dealer serviced) they will provide the parts FOC, you have to kick up a little fuss but they do cough up in the end.
Has anyone taken it further with Subaru? At the end of the day is a poor effort if im replacing bearings/Crank/Short engine at 36k miles
Cheers

TBH you can only try with Subaru, are you sure its the big ends going and not something silly like low on oil?
If it does come to the worst, speak to API engines on this board, but it still might cost you best part of £2500 to sort

All the best what ever happens
