Default HKS INDUCTION KIT

I brought my 95 WRX import back in august 95 and the previous owner had fitted an HKS INDUCTION KIT (the green mushroom type) but still has the original recirc dump valve . Not being very technical myself i have heard and being told that these damage the maf sensor and do not filter crap very well! I do not cover alot of miles in it , only using it at weekends and it runs perfectly.

Do i need to revert back to the standard air box? Any help appreciated.

Craig.

Been done to death but FWIW - if it's bracketed properly and not over oiled it will not destroy your MAF. The filtering qualities aren't the best with the HKS, but don't let the snet scare mongering give you nightmares. Additionally the weaker MAFs are found on the 99/00 cars.

Make sure you change the HKS filter regularly hence you can't wash it like K&N.

A highly respected Engine builder/tuner (whose company sell HKS stuff) told me steer clear. He has stripped many turbos on cars fitted with these that show filtration damage to the compressor blades.

Interesting link here showing how poor they filter the air......

i have heard they dont filter very well but if u dont drive much i cant see it doing much damage. the only way it will damage ur maf is if it moves about too much need to make sure it is secure. my mate has that induction kit on his pulsar without problems and it sounds great too

Have put the original air box and Apexi panel filter back on today to see what its like. The car seems much smoother with no loss of performance and i prefer the lack of induction and dumpvalve noise! As im gettin on a bit now (36) think i will leave standard.
