Steering judder when cold.
A couple of times over the weekend, when I first set off in the car I get a judder in the steering, the wheel does not turn smoothly but in a series of short sharp movements.
It only happens when the car has been stood for while like first thing in the morning reversing off the drive or getting out of parking spaces.
Anyone tell me what the problem is?
Next service is coming up soon (full fluid swap) so I'm hoping its just power steering fluid past its useful life... any other suggestions appreciated.

I get the same thing from my 53reg STI - only when cold and olny when reversing and full steering lock. Its as if the wheel is skipping over stones.
I've researched this on Scoobynet before and the replies were that it was simply the cold tyres. I had one reply though from a guy with a WR1 who said it was a problem with the diff's in the front or something?
Think really its pretty normal and its only breifly when the car is cold.
