OPOT SANDWICH PLATE

Hi guys,
Just a quick question about these sandwich plates for wiring in an oil temp and pressure gauge. Is anyone on here currently using one? If so, how do you rate them? I'm going to be fitting some gauges soon and would like to know if it's worth using the sandwich plate. Or do I spend a bit more time and effort using the 'already in place' bits on the engine?
Any feedback appreciated.

i considered one when fitting my gauges,but its position looked a little close to the exhaust as above...... so fitted the senders in the normal places on the engine,no problem with the right adapters....whichever way works i guess

This is my gredy one
was fit by powerstation under their advice, looking back knowing what I now know I would probably not bother
BUT
I ve never had any real problems apart from a small leak which took all of 2 mins to sort and I would say it does make the install easyer
hell im not sure what you should do

This is the one that I was going to buy. Looking at them, they are quite a bit different.
BUT.
Would I have the same problems with the heat shield with this one? Or is that problem only with the greddy one? Hmmm.....still unsure. What a pain. And the sender for the fuel pressure is quite big for a sender, so installing it in the place where I could actually on the engine, would it fit?

you need an adapter kit from lma to fit that,its needed to allow the unit to be connected to the original oil pressure take off under the alternator..... your right its too big to fit under there

This does fit, although a bit tight for space, i found it easier when fitted with a 90 deg elbow (bought seperatly) so the pressure sender fits at the same angle as the filter.

Hmm, so if I want to fit it under the alternator, where do I buy the lma adaptor?

What do you think of the sandwich plate and sender? Do they seem to give you good readings? Also, did it fit straight on, or did you use an adaptor for any of it? My scoob is MY99 btw.

I'm never quite sure why you'd want to take an oil temp and pressure reading off of the oil filter outlet. Seems totally the wrong place to me and doesn't tell you anything about the oil temp and pressure where it counts.
Use your sandwich plate for an oil COOLER and stick the senders somewhere else if you can.

As you may of guessed, this is all new to me. Stil trying to learn and get my head around the scoob engine. Ok, so now I know where to buy the adaptor from (thanks for the link btw). But which adaptor do I need? So much stuff on the website I didn't really know which would be the one. Also, will it only be the pressure sender that will need an adaptor fitting to it?

if you ring lma up and tell them you require the adaptors to fit oil temp and pressure senders to an impreza,they will know exactly which ones you require..... very helpfull and very quick delivery

I used this for temp sendor as it's easier.
Only used opt sandwich plate for presure as it seemed easier.
No problems with it, not 100% on the readings though but i was a bit suspect of the gauge (Auto gauge)
No oli leaks though.
Fitted all this to a P1.

Oh dear. Now I'm still a bit stuck. Sounds easier to use the sandwich plate for obvious reasons. BUT. It's auto gauge gauges that I have bought for mine. I've bought the new 2006 smoke face ones. Think they will look the part but that doesn't matter if the readings will be a bit iffy.
P.S. Thanks for the part number. Maybe I'll try that route as the adaptors are cheaper than a sandwich plate anyway. Anyone know the part number I need for the oil pressure sender adaptor??

i have the autogauge stealth units also,adaptors off lma for both temp and pressure cost me £20 if i remember right,lma know exactly which you need so give them a call....i got my center triple pod off ebay for £7...bit of a bargain,and they do come up every now and then

I have the Smoked Autogauges + Sandwich plate from the recent Group buy. I have had them fitted for a few weeks now and have had no problems with either fitting or readings so far. But it is a tight fit, remember to fit the sender into the plate and connect the wiring before you fit it to the car.

Seems like a boggo job if that is the case! Best to take some extra time and fit the sensors where they are supposed to be isn't it?!
EDIT:> The pressure sender has 3 wires coming out of it so one of them is the ground. Why do you need to make sure it makes metallic contact with the block in this case?
