same thing has happened to my 94 wrx sti. It splutters now and then as if its about to kick in.
I've cleaned the cam sensor but still no difference.
Maybe somebody out there can solve both our problems

mine wont even splutter!
ive tryed the old ecu in it (im running the same ecu as standard but with a scoobyecu in it so i have a spare) but no joy.
ive checked the fuses next to the battery and ive checked the fuses in the box in the drivers footwell. it there a seperate fuse for the fuel pump?

Is the check engine staying on? If so check what error code the ecu is giving out, this way you'll know exactly what sensor is faulty. http://www.saxonfields.freeserve.co.uk

It won't flash any codes unless you conenct the read memory connectors:
1. Turn ignition OFF
2. Connect read memory connectors (jumper 5) [black connectors]
3.Turn ignition ON (Engine OFF)
4. Engine Check lamp turns on
5. Code is indicated by Pulsing lamp
6. If Code is OK then Turn ignition OFF & Disconnect Connectors
7. Check ECU Code
8.Turn ignition OFF & Disconnect Connectors
9. If there is a fault Check Appropriate Sensor

By the way the connectors are found beneath the dash near the drivers footwell. More info on: http://www.saxonfields.freeserve.co....iag%20Page.htm

as for the fuel pump ill have a look tonight. did you mean just the connection or does it have a seperate fuse or a trip switch?
also if the fump has gone wouldnt it have given me signs before this?

Theres a spade connector going in to block which joins the fuel pump under the back seat, this was arcing out on mine. It's worth checking this before you get a new pump.
I had a couple of instances where it wouldnt start first time, then one day it just wouldnt start at all.
This was my original post, the guys on here pointed me in the right direction very quickly

ive removed the rear seats and removed the covers on both sides. ive had the misses turn the ignition on so i can sit in the back and listen to the fuel pump. i cant hear a thing. i dissarmed the immobiliser turned the key once, couldnt hear anything. then turned the key again, couldnt hear anything at all. either its my pump or its a wire leading to it. im having a mate come round asap with his multimeter.

take the out let pipe of the fuel filter crank the engine over to see if fuel comes out
if no try the other side if the filter if not
try the fuel pump itself if not
it must be your pump or a feed to the pump
REMEMBER TO DO THIS WHILE U ARE NOT SMOKING !!!!!!!!!!!
