Have a similar problem with my 02STi. Unfortunatly being up in Scotland it does get rather chilli. Recently cleaned the crank and cam sensors, seems better. The crank sensor is located under the alternator, 10mm bolt. The cam sensor is on the left bank (next to battery) 10mm bolt. hope this might be of help. steve

Im in the process of replacing the crank sensor. My problem though was warm starts. It would start great when cold then wouldnt start till it cooled down after a while.

Try this for the diagnostic's? I found it in the forums and it worked great for me showing up the fault code for the crank sensor after a few guys told me i should look at it first.
Not sure which years the fault codes cover however mines a classic 95 WRX.
Id try it out and see what you get.
I must say though in my past ive worked on a lot of cars and cold starting problems are usually ignition related?

I have this same problem on both cold and warm starts. Bump starting it has worked on two occasions and failed on 2 . My tuner thinks its the air flow sensor so we shall change this and see i however am sceptical as when its running, its not missing a beat

Did you try that link yet Alloy? I think i posted it in your thread. Its very easy to follow and will save you money on parts you might not need?
