Cool STi 6 Gearbox

Is the STi6 gearbox the same as is fitted to an MY00 GT? or is it different?

What sort of torque will a Standard MY00 GT Gearbox take?

If the gear boxes are different would I be better off changing to an STi 6 gearbox or an STi newage gear box?

And last but not least, I do not like the 6 spead gearbox as the ratios are all wrong, so will a new age WRX gearbox be better than the MY00 Gearbox and how much torque will that take?

Cheers

Steve

worm/cans/open

I like my sti6 box and diff, I like the ratios but the 5th could do with a few more legs for the motorway cruise IMO.

Ok thanks but not much help.

I currently have about 340ps no idea how much torque, running through a standard MY00 gearbox and am wondering how much the box will take, will I be ok with what I have or am I just waiting for my box to explode???

I don't think anyone can honestly answer your question. The STI is stronger, and I think the type R box is stronger still. A lot of people have gone the 6 speed route and does seem to take the power with no known broken gearboxes. But some people don't like the 6 speed ratio's.

I have gone the Type R box route on what will be if not already around 380/380. And only time will tell, but its currently doing the job nicely
My UK standard box broke on me running 336bhp/362fl/lb.
