18 inch wheels. But what tyres to get???

Evening,
Ok, so here's the question. I am going to be buying some nice shiny new 18 inch wheels in the next few weeks. BUT, I don't know what size tyres to wrap them in. I've read lots of different threads saying this size and that, but who has got 18 inch wheels? And what size tyres do you use? Obviously I don't want any rubbing on the inner arches. The car is an MY00 and will be lowered by approx 30mm. I'm thinking maybe 215/35/18?? Would this be about right or would they rub?
Secondly, even though there is loads of threads about what brand of tyre to buy, there is always conflicts to what people say about what tyres. On 18 inch rims, lowered, what would you guys advise to fit? Eagle F1's? Avon ZZ3?? Toyo T1-R?? They seem to be the three favourites as I've read so far. But has anyone got the same setup with regards to the year and the lowering??
Any advice mucho appreciated.
Chad.

what you tend to go by is the size of wheel you have now thats if its not rubbing now? so the size of your wheel now includes size of alloy and size of tyre side wall x2 which gives over all size then you match new wheel to same size usualy with in 10mm so lets say you have 17inch alloy wheel now and your over all wheel size with tyre is 560mm(22inch) you then want your 18s to match your 17s over all wheel size.
if your wheels are close to arches you can get tyres where over all size is same but the side walls slope in so it doesn't rub.
with choice of tyre i'd put toyo number 1 then avon, goodyear as they both have pluses and negatives and bridgestone at the bottem of any list cos of its rubbish wet skatting.
hope this helps

I have a P1 which i *think* is about 20mm lower than a standard uk car.
the 18"wheel option - prodrive specify 215, but i and many others run 225/35 with no rubbing.
bigger choice of 225/40 but these rub on a lot of cars. I personally like the Toyos but cant comment on a comparrison to others as i have not tried them.
If you look around Toyo and the eagles are most popular, followed by the pirellis.
