Default cars died on me!!! help!!!

Hi all, quick question to test your knowledge. I got in my car tonight to go fill her up and it wouldnt pick up at all ...thought maybe something was damp and it would clear up, pulled up at the lights and when i went to set off it wouldnt move so i revved it hard and managed to get out the way and pulled over....it was acting like it was running out of fuel but it wasnt, sat there and let it idle for a few mins then set off again and it was better but wouldnt boost due to misfiring.....very sluggish, filled her up and drove stright home...3 times on the way home it started doing this spluttering again!! foot to the floor and not moving...like it was running on 2 plugs or sumut. Pulled up outside the house and switched her off and put my ignition on...very slow whirring noise from the fuel pump, i did this a few times until it wouldnt make a noise at all...i started it and it ticked over really bad....engine shaking and running as if it was on 2 plugs or sumut, i couldnt even rev her up......now she wont start at all. fuel pump isnt priming...sounded very strange today.

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob

It seems like your fuel pump has given up the ghost, you should replace it with an walbro uprated unit. My car did exactly the same thing when the fule pump died.

Thanks banny, fuel pump does sound the suspect....the only reason it wont start now is because of the fuel pump not priming anymore and it only used the fuel that was left in the lines. wonder if it could still be a bad connection.

Bob

ps: where is the bloody fuel pump. also any ideas on testing first ??????

The fuel pump is located behind the rear seat on the driver's side under a metal cover, you could tap it a couple of times and if it starts that means there is a bad connection, if not the fuel pump needs replacing.

Hi, got the AA out on my dads card and the fuel pump is gone and he also said the wiring to the pump is dead....he couldnt find the fuel pump fuse (where is it).....poss the alarm, fuse, or the wiring is burnt out somewhere...i could check the fuse if i could find it and maybe trace the wiring to where ever it goes....thanks.

The fuel pump relay clicks on....pump is dead for sure, AA man put another live feed to it and it was dead, he also cut inot the wiring before the block under back seat....i turned her over and he comfirmed no power, maybe just try a new pump and take it from there ??????

Tha reason that happens is due to no fuel being pumped, my car was doing the same, dont try revving it you may end up damaging something due to no fuel.

Yeah just thought it was working again for a moment...not a good thing. Do you think i should just try a new fuel pump....ive got the jap 260ps model so im thinking walbro 255 ?????? give that a whirl and if she doesnt start then just get an auto electrician on the job ?????

ps: £78.99 delivered any good ????

Thats an excellent price for a walbro i paid £100 for mine, once the fuel pump is changed it will be right as rain and put a smile back on your face.

Hmmmmm but the flow rate concerns me.....with mine having more power than the uk model i presume theres a better fuel pump in there or are the uk/jap ones the same.....is the 255 walbro too much fuel delivery or will my car be fine......i hear there good for 500bhp+ but im not power hunting in the future its fine as it is, will a remap be required????????
