Default Initial Puff Of Smoke ??

Ive started a nasty puff of blue smoke on initial ignition, this clears after ive revved it once but is taking me back to my 80's smokey XR2 CVH days when this was diagnosed as a stem seal issue??
Im only on 22k miles on my MY03 WRX, does any one have any similar problems. Ive also noticed that my oil level on the dip stick is slightly higher than normal could this be related ??

Cheers

Default smokey

These engines do not like to be overfilled as it causes oil to be blown through the breathers into the intercooler, causing smoking on start up.

I would personally drain some out if it were mine, not difficult as there is a hole cut out in the engine undertray.

I had the same problem. Bought a 53 reg sti about 1.5 years ago and about 1 month after I got it, it started puffing out the blue smoke on certain start ups. Problem? - too much oil in it! And Subaru had just serviced it!! It had 6.5 litres of oil when it should have 4.2.

Drained the oil and done a refill - problem solved and has not returned.
