Stick with the STI pannel filter, I spent £190 on my HKS mushroom filter before everyone told me it was a bad move! you dont wanna keep replacing faulty MAF sensors.

As wee jock is using a FMIC he probably has had to do away with the std air box so telling him to stick with a panel filter is no use, He also has a pre my99car that is fitted with a far more robust MAF as long as the filter is secured and doesn't vibrate to much should be OK, I used a Apexi filter for 2 1/2yrs and thought it was a good piece of kit (But i think they only make 1 size for the Impreza) I now use a large green cotton cone filter on a custom adaptor plate that does away with the MAF.

the Apexi intake flows well for it's size and is well priced.

not happy with the filtration on the HKS although never had a problem as a result admittedly.

I may consider selling the ally trumpet I used on mine.. as I now have a 100mm one rather than the 70mm one on the car now.

You would just need a filter then.
