Angry Occaisional Not Starting

Wonder if any of you guys can help resolve this issue where a few mechanics have failed:

I have a 96' Impreza WRX. About one in ten times it wont start. The Starter motor doesnt even turn, i hear a relay click, and thats it, nothing. Replaced the battery and tried boosting it to start it but that fails. I've also had the starter motor replaced, but that didnt work either. The only way it will work is if I bump start it (someone pushing me) and I turn the key at the same time as releasing the clutch. After this its then fine for another 10 to 15 starts.

Any ideas - ANYONE !!?!?

Sounds like a dodgy starter motor, when it next doesn't start get someone to hit it whilst you turn the key, if it kicks it into life it's buggered and just bad luck that you've had two faulty motors.

Check your earth straps, 2 dodgy starter motors on the trot sounds a bit suspect.

Sounds suspect but I'm guessing the replacement wasn't new, I've had three on the bounce from a well known breakers on here............

My last dodgy starter motor inccident turned out to be wiring.

Just as well - as I completely stripped and rebuilt the starter, so I was blaming myself until I found the real cause
