PPP Grief
I have recently had a PPP fitted to my 54 Type UK STI. It is now back in the garage that fitted it because it keeps cutting out. Has anyone had this problem with a PPP? My local Subaru dealer appears to be scratching its head! Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Dan,
Idle is fine. It cut out at 20mph on M25 the other day. Subaru rang today to say that they now think it is a faulty ECU that would have been replaced as part of the PPP upgrade. They are shipping in another one. Fingers crossed. How long have you had your PPP for?

My recommendation is to get the dealer to check it out as if it was a std car. Would they even be thinking about changing the ECU if it was standard?. The answer is probably no as they either work or they don't. Deterioration over time just doesn't happen normally. There's no newer spec either that would affect things, the ECU hardware spec didn't change during 05MY.
The favourite things to look for would be airleaks or a faulty idle control solenoid. Once these had been eliminated then look at the other sensors such as maf and lambda or maybe even damaged wiring. As usual with these things, recreating the problem on a regular basis is the key to fixing it so getting that info to the dealer is most important.
