Turbo bleed valve

Turbo bleed valve
Curiousity - car was in at TSL today for some work, and the guys there came across a turbo bleed valve which was promptly removed on their advice. The car, 2001 typre 5 v 6 had been running amazingly well, better than my evo8 fq330, and its seems to be down to this beastly. But to be honest it seems to be running as well without it.
TSL explained it was a cheap and cheerful way to blow your engine - but can anyone expand on that.

Can be very dangerous if not used with care. A tweak of the unit for more power could result in big bang theory. this is from comments I have looked at on the web and in books.

1.2 bar is just about safe on your model with out fuel cut if you have a boost gauge which is accurate you are ok.
thb you wont get big bang theory as your fuel cut will cut in to safe you!!!
