WHY ME ?
ok here goes, i have a my 94 sti ver1 since i brought it it has had a fault . when ever i go over 3500 revs the car just idles crap it revs up and down on its own for about a minute.i took it to a local garage that work on subarus and they said it was the idle control valve so they changed it .the problem went for about 2 hrs then came back,so i took it back to the garage and they said to reset the ecu by leaving the battery off over night so i did. next day i still have the problem so i check the ecu code myself only to find the lambda sensor showing up so i get it changed only to find out i still have the same problem.so i take it to another garage that also deals with subarus who puts a select meter on it to say that the icv is the problem and is not set properly ,so he sets it to the wright value . guess what 1hr later i still have the same problem so i try to check the ecu again this time showing no fault found, why cant i take it to a garage that can say thats the problem and i can fix it does anyone know anywhere i can take it tomorrow who no s what they are on about i live in wolverhampton and i am willing to travel thanks in advance

not sure on that but Zen offered me a hand out on a Saturday a while back and was a very very nice man, although i didnt need him in the end, he did offer ;-)
Davids (API) a nice chap as they all are but as with most "Good" mechanics they are usually full up for a goodwhile..unfortunately.... give em a ring as most can give good advice over the phone if they cant fit you in.

Get someone to check it, the problem is alot of mechanics dont look outside the box, they think "idle speed problem; must be the idle speed controller surely?"..
And anyone that plugs our car straight into a diagnostics machine and just start changing stuff doesnt know what they are doing and should be avoided.

try taking the intercooler off starting it up and putting your hand over the hole .it should try and suck your hand in and stall the car if it doesnt then you have an airleak..mine was down for a month and spoke to every person in the country , changed everything and couldnt find the problem. sometimes
you can look to hard ...back to basics air fuel and fire
