I have a MY05 WRX PPP with only 8000 on the clock and has been making a noise like rattling tappets for about 1000 miles now, when the problem started ichecked the oil and it was about 3mm below the low mark, so i topped it up problem went away now it has returned and oil is fine, someone said it could be the injectors and rebuild time!

could this be true, anyone have any other ideas please

If you have allowed the oil level to get that low then there is a possibility you have done some damage to the engine. I would take it to the dealers for them to check out and hope your warranty covers it. I don't know if allowing the oil to get so low will void your warranty or not. Whether it is covered or not you're better getting it diagnosed sooner rather than later because any damage done will get worse with driving and result in more remedial work being needed and a bigger bill.

I had a slight tappet noise on mine from new, went for it's first full service at a specialist and they changed the oil to fully synthetic oil and the noise went straight away and has never come back

yeah currently at 8300 miles on semi - synthetic maybe that would cure it cheers for the info guys, probs have to wait till the 10,000 mile service, any idea how mush that would cost around the £160 mark?
