I have a used centre pipe and muffler from a 2003 JDM WRX. But, strangely it has the logo of STi printed on the exhaust tip.

When I look through the centre section, it doesnt seems to have a cat in it. I can look straight through the whole centre pipe to find only some mesh around the resonator.

Am I thinking in the right direction that a centre pipe from a 2003 JDM WRX is catless in stock form?

How do I tell if my centre pipe has a cat or not?

only Euro spec cars normally have the extra centre cat.....................

sounds like an sti backbox and centre. The sti doesn't have a cat in the centre, just a resonator.

You guys are right about the cat and the sti backbox and centre.

The seller has confirmed that it is in fact a used centre pipe and muffler from a 2003 JDM STI.

Does that mean it is the same as a decat centre pipe?

Don't pay over the odds. The JDM centre section is exactly the same as UK WRX or STi versions and is catless - its just a resonator you can see.
It only has a scrap value.

So why is the JDM centre section a catless and my UK WRX has a cat on the centre section?

Will I be adding a few horses with the new decat centre and muffler?

uzzled: The UK or JDM centre sections don't have a cat on it.
There is a short section on UK cars after the downpipe that has a cat in it but this isn't found on JDM cars. They have a longer one piece downpipe instead.
I think a picture is called for here, but I can't find a link to it.
