boost control solenoid always clicking. why???
my 96 wrx boost control solenoid is always clicking, even when idling.
from what ive read it should only do this under boost.
does it just need a clean or does it sound like there is something seriously wrong?

the cooling fans do not pluse on and off with ignition on.
i checked the black and green connectors just to make sure and they are not connected.
as soon as i start the engine it starts clicking away. ANY IDEAS??

Has it got a remapped chip in the ECU i.e does it run more then 13psi of boost.
I have seen this quite alot on the U8, 2C and W8 ECU's if the code and duty maps are not matched.
Although your car should have a Z4 ECU which shouldn't suffer exhibit this problem.
either that or the throttle position sensor/switch needs a slight tweak so that the switch comes into action when the throttle is closed.
This is mounted on slotted holes, so there is a degree of adjustment.

A unichip clicks the boost solenoid if fitted - I checked on a few cars and all are quiet unless a unichip is present - if ign on but not running the click is more noticeable
