Over Boost??

Over Boost??
Good afternoon,
Had my car down to scooby clinic last friday to have the mapping done on my newly run in motor
One or two problem need ironing out but such is life.
Firstly i've fitted a new ecu with scoobyecu chip because of problem with old ecu.
On the dyno we realised that fuel pump was'nt up to the job because I was getting quite allot of over boost (fuel cut).
And I still had the front cat in place.
I have now fitted the fuel pump which has made a great difference to the over boost, but it is still occuring in 4th when accelerating hard.
I spoke to the man that mapped the thing and he says that he will need to make a few tweaks to the map. Especially when I fit the decat front pipe which is to be expected.
He also surrgested upgrading the boost control switch to a later model (mine is a 95 wrx by the way). Am I right in saying this is the boost solinoid????
And doe's anyone have any surrgestions what to?? (has anyone got one they would part with).
Cheers in advance

I was under the impression that the early cars had the good 3-port boost solenoid, and it was the later ones that are 2 port. I know 98 on is defo 3 port.
If you're hitting fuel cut then there's too much boost, a dawes device set correctly will cure this, or you could go the route of fitting a fuel cut defender (I don't recommend doing that without knowing your car).
Also I'm a bit worried about what you've been told, or how you've taken it. Your car should never have been mapped that it hits fuel cut, then they leave you too it.
Could also try cleaning the boost solenoid. De-cat should give you more boost if anything.

It could well be the MAP sensor he is talking about.
Early cars 1.1 bar and later cars 1.8 bar MAP sensors I think. Dont know the years or models.
So the later one lets you raise the boost higher.

I don't actually think it hits fuel cut but the guy did mention that there was
a safety function in the ecu that cuts in before you actually reach it. This is the effect am getting. Ah need to get this sorted coz its really starting to get on me t#ts.

what boost are you runing it could well be you need the 3 bar map senser from a my99 ive had one fitted to mine very easy to do i belive it lets the ecu read the higher boost levels but you would need to have your map tweeked as they under read by about 3psi also id be very wary of antone who maps a car then leaves it hiting fuel cut in any gear

Full rebuild from API. Including version 3/4 intercooler with front entry turbo, Fly wheel, V3 / 4 cylinder heads, blitz de-cat, Chipped ecu, Ported and polished headers and uprated fuel pump. Av got a new clutch to go in next weekend with the new hks de-cat front pipe. ah need this problem sorted asap.

I see what you are trying to do now....
Basically the scoobyecu can only be mapped to 1.1-1.2bar on the MAP sensor you have, fuel cut then occurs. The code in the chip can be altered to suit the later MAP sensors which would allow the scoobyecu to be mapped to 1.8bar. The MAP sensors are not a straight swap tho as the connectors are different, which is why the one i have has been adapted with the early style plug. So this just plugs into your standard loom once the old MAP has been removed. The scoobyecu would then need a remap to suit, and the fuel cut increased to stop this happening. This i presume is what scoobyclinic are telling you.
Tony.
