EBC-existing boost solenoid?

Hi all! i fitted a greddy ebc a while back,and disconnected the existing boost solenoid and replaced it with the supplied one,only leaving the electrical connector on. Was this the right way to fit it or not? The old one still ticks away,but has no vacume lines on it.

yip thats perfect - if you disconnect it - you will get a CEL

Thanks, would i be able to fit a resistor or something to get rid of the anoying ticking noise?
