Default wrx rev limit

Am about to change my td04 to an 05 along with the relevant supporting mods. Was wondering how far you can raise the wrx(my03) rev limit when mapping.

Can it go much higher?

Not much I think, I'd leave it until you uprate the valvetrain and internals.

Mines up to 7500 on std uk internals.. It's been up there 2-3 times in the last 2 1/2 years.. I'm not happy with it being that high.

Mine is currently at 7250 and has been there but not often. I think I'll leave it where it is then!

on my first map i actually lowered it to 6800, the boost will start to drop of anyway once you get up there, so theres little point in raising it TBH.

Mine is somewhat over 7000 (probably about 7300), I'm normally concentrationg on the road with the revs that high.......LOL

mines at 7000 but I think I have only been there once. Like Neilo says its pointless on a wrx as power is dropping away there (unless head/cam mods have taken place)

Mine made peak power at bang on 7000, never took it any further to find out what happened after...

Reason I was asking is I will eventually get round to fitted my other mods and get a remap. TD05, injectors etc....Just wondered how safe it was to go higher but probably won't bother.

Tuts

You will need to take the rev limit higher to get the best top end performance from the TD05......and to overtake without having to change gear !!

I've got a TD05 as well, overtaking at certain speed does become a bit of a chore. I generally just live with it or sit back and wait for a bigger gap

RB, where does yours boost from? With my TD04 it starts about 2500 but only really see full boost from 3 onwards. I was hoping the td05 16 with ported headers would hit full boost about 3-3.5.

RB 245

With a TD05 18G in a line of traffic on the A69.......... patience is certainly a virtue !!!

Mines a 20g, boost actually comes in a little earlyer than the 16G but is off set by a slower pick up.

I have big headers which don't help matters, but anything over 3600 and you're off

1 Bar by about 3100-3200 which is probably accelerating quite quick, but compared to the wallop you get at about 3500 it feels slow.

With the TD04 you can overtake (at a leasurely pace) from 60 in 5th, mine can barely get up a gental hill at 60 in 5th Drop down to 50 in 5th and you have to drop a gear to get up a hill, or on the flat you can crawl back up to 60 just about.

This has been my consern going from my current remapped TD04 and swapping it to a vf35..! TD04 spools very quickly (starts making boost @2400, 1bar 2700 & 1.35bar 2900 in 4th/5th but by 4k starts dropping and by 6k it's all over) I know the vf35 has the smaller 15g ex housing and therefore should spool quite early, esp. when it's coupled with ported headers but, what's the point of fitting a bigger turbo if you can't overtake safely, can't you just drop a cog or two..?

Ok, did it now. 5th is from 45 as I felt the engine was labouring below that.

Sorry that's not worked well. Will host on google.

Yes you can drop a cog or 2, but after the novelty wears off it gets tiresome. I tend just to sit in traffic now
