HELP! Faulty injectors ended up with car that wont start
HELP! HELP! I've taken my motor to Scoobyclinic yesterday to have injectors fitted and a remap only to find at the end of the day they couldn't get it started! After about 10 attempts to start her, they checked the plugs and they were dry!
The injectors seems to be okay, ie high impedance reading.
The car was a runner before hand.
The fuel pressure is reading 3 bar during starting and the reg has worked fine before.
Any advice would be greatfully rec'd!

It is yes but I want to be sure parts dont get replaced for no reason as I'm sure the spark plugs, FPR etc are okay...just wonder if anyone has come across this before?

Just spoke to Scoobyclinic, looks like their on the case. They will check the ecu first to see if its wanting to fire the injectors. If it is, duff injectors for sure.
Thing is, I bought them from flat4online - they're a little hard to get hold of, anyone have a contact number for them?

i think i have read on here that sometimes the injectors from flat4online arent the greatest, doesnt really help you but do a search on here about them and you may pick something up about the injectors.

I wish I'd not sourced the injectors now - its going to cost me for sure.
I've no idea when the car will be finished as I can't get a decent answer from flat4online re replacements and delivery. AAAAAHHH!
Scoobyclinic I hope will remove the faulty injectors (once they get round to confirming its this late today, I hope) and then the car will sit there doing nowt. I can see me having to buy another set of injectors to get the car completed.

May I suggest that you edit the title of the post to remove Scoobyclinnic as it's implies they're at fault. A you're probably now finding, they'll do their utmost to get you rolling again.

I suspect ScoobyClinic are more than on it, but are the electrical plugs connecting? some injectors require varying amounts of modification.. although Flat4online should have explained anything needed to get them to fit.

Scoobyclinic confirmed fault to be with the injectors that I supplied. Flat4 have confirmed they will refund (but not sure of fitting and removal costs yet). The only thing that bugs me is why these firms don't test all injectors before fitting (customer supplied or not) as Scoobyclinic confirm they've had faulty injectors before!
They do seem to be a good outfit but hope this doesn't become a drawn out process with a massive bill at the end.

Would definatley push for refund + fitting costs. Why should you pay twice when its not your fault. Give flat4online a chance to make right the situation.

Latest is Scoobyclinic have lubricated the injectors and managed to free up the coils so the injectors work and the car runs! Not sure what day they did this on as I've only just found this out.
Will ask Flat4 if they will ask manufacturer for compensation for fitting and removal costs...will update thread with result.

Andy, yes these are the original injectors that Scoobyclinic said the coils were faulty and the injector wasn't opening. They even tested it and couldn't hear the "click" of the injector. I know for sure when the injectors were fitted that no fuel was getting into the cylinders as the plugs were dry after 10 starting attempts.
Scoobyclinic said they put oil into the coil packs which allowed them to free up - I've have no idea re this.

Its a little late now as they've refitted and the car is running. I'll just keep using it for a while (its going off road but will run it in the garage) to keep the injectors "busy".

Your main problem is your fitting unknown injectors that arent flow matched or tested.

Few, glad to read that. I never knew injectors can stick until about a week ago. Just wish these places would check injectors (as can't take long) before fitting, to me it would be more professional.

worth buying new injectors imho.
I would ask scoobyclinic to source them from lateral.
They have an ultrasonic cleaning machine and can flow match them. They also know from testing them which are the good makes and which are not.

Hi,
To confirm the sequence of events, our customer supplied his own injectors new and boxed, there was no reason to test them it was a case of fitting and then running the car round to the dyno for mapping. We were quite suprised that the vehicle failed to start as we have done loads of these.
Tests were carried out on the only accessable injector in situe, resistance 14.6 OHMs, no problem there, we then powered it up independently with a test loom, it drew current but didnt click pointing to it being stuck shut which of course adds up, we have fuel pressure we have injector pulse on cranking but we have dry spark plugs.
They were removed again squirted with a cleaning / freeing agent and then subjected to a few high current pulses, after a few pulses they started to click nicley showing they were actually opening.
they were re- fitted and the vehicle started imediatly, I can only assume they were stuck shut as a result of standing in stock somewhere for quite a while, maybe in future we should give em all a pulse before fitting, but hey hindsite is a wonderfull thing.

I'm not pointing the finger at you guys re this, it was just as much a surprise to me that injectors can and do go wrong (If I'd of known what I do now about injectors I would of asked you to check them before fitting, that's for sure). Agree with you there though, I think all professional subaru (and non-subaru) specialists should do a quick test of injectors before fitting, no exceptions.
You would think such a precision item wouldn't have this problem, but then again, nothing in the world is perfect.

We've had injectors from flatfouronline in the past. NEVER again.
The comment from Power Engineering who independently tested them for us advised that of the 8 ' new ' injectors there was not a single one that was any use.
That cost me £80.00 plus postage. I sent the lot back and eventually after a number of weeks I got a refund - Less the postage that it cost me to return the goods and no mention of the costs of the testing for the junk I had received.
In the meantime I have a pissed off customer and his mapper who both wasted at least a day.

No I doubt that, If Kev and the guys have got them working and because of that, are prepared to fit them, they are saying obliquely that they approve them.
The 'Clinic don't have a crystal ball, but I know for sure that if we fit something, we are prepared to stick by our judgment and experience.
But I did notice all the guys there walking around with their fingers crossed a bit back.

After a bit of digging around I've confirmed the PE injectors (from Flat4) are top quality and I've just been unlucky they were stuck closed during fitting. I will keep the car running for a while even though its off the road at the weekend to allow the injectors to have decent use.

So it sounds like Lateral can do an injector servicing on Subaru injectors, is there anyone else? My local injector servicing places (with ASNU machines) can't do it because they don't have the right adapters/jigs to fit.
