Question Oil Temp Monitor/Alarm - STi MY04 Type UK

Any advice guys. I would like to fit a device in the Scoob that will monitor oil temperature and will give an alarm (audible/visual) once a variable preset is reached - this is to help keep any eye on the engine during track days.

It would appear on the scoob that oil temperature is not monitored via the diagnostics connector - is this correct?

If I do need a separate probe how is it fitted and who are the suppliers?

Does anybody know of any gauges that will give an alarm against an adjustable pre-set. I do know the SECS/PSi3 type units do this but they are rather expensive for single parameter monitoring.

Any help very welcome

cheers

My Defi Guages have warnings that can be preset........an audible bleep from the control unit (a bit quiet for my liking) and a red light on the guage.

May well all add up to the same price as a second hand non VFD SECS though.

Thanks Shaun - are you measuring oil temp and if so how is the detector fitted.

You need extra connector to monitor oil temp, IIRC you need a sandwich plate to attach to the sender....

See scoobyworld (half way down the page) http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...ccf239b319729c

or for a cheaper solution, http://www.lma-group.com/motorsport/...ing_parts.html

Oil temp measured by the SECS via a Defi oil temp sender.....I found the digital SECS guage easier to read than the Defi analogue one. My Defi's measure oil pressure and boost in a 2 gauge a-pillar pod

The senders were fitted by Alyn at www.asperformance.com and I'm sure it just screws into the block somewhere !!

I'm sure I have seen oil temp kits in the Demon Tweeks cataloge

SPA gauges will meet your requirement.
They can be set with a variable alarm plus an output that cna eb linked to a buzzer etc.
SPA do them in digital readout and now as analogue dials.
Typically £120 from Rally nuts/ Demon Tweeks and come with the sensor.
