How to get more torque with same engine setup?
Anyone know how/why one car would produce 440bhp/420 ft/lb and another 450bhp/480 ft/lb using same spec engine and turbo?
What's the usual method to get more torque (maybe without much bhp difference) out of a scoob? The ignition advance? More boost?

Many variables, but more boost through the mid-range will do it
Remember that same spec is not the same as identical spec - there can be pretty large variances on stock performance due to manufacturing tolerances. These should be reduced with aftermarket parts....but it is not always the case, and there are always tolerances present. Therefore some things/cars will always perform better than others, even with the same mapper.
Mapper can also play a part of course - everyone's idea of a safety margin is different, and some people are just plain better than others

Thanks Richard..
More boost in mid range then...tops
I'd still expect mine to get the 450/480 mark though, as after market internals fitted and the wild cams - SC's demo car doesn't have wild cams like mine or water injection.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
temperature on the day, and amount of time spent tweaking the map, they need to go on the rollers back to back to get a meaningfull comparison.
How does it feel on the road? If it goes like stink then forget the figures

Goes like stink David...really ***** out stuff, wanting to rip your neck off.
It does need another ecu in the end though, so will have another roller/map next year with boost controller - gets away from using the oe air flow meter
