Default 2.5 legacy engine into impreza

Ive come across a 2.5 legacy engine that has done a couple of shells,
it is a us spec engine, and my question is will the engine fit into an impreza, im only after the short block to match with my heads.
its gonna need a new crank etc,etc

also is this engine just as good as the newer impreza 2.5 engines, could i expect to see 400bhp with supporting mods

thanks
dale

EJ25 is normally aspirated - wouldn't try to run it without changing pistons and rods. It's open deck.

After 3 long years I'm just fitting a phase 1 EJ25 ('97) in my scoob

I was told mine was a Semi Closed Deck block...... How that works I don't know....

If it's not closed, then I spose it's open... he he

Mine had all new internals.... forged pistons and the like......

STi 2.5 block (EJ257) is semi-closed, older 2.5's were not.

Crank & rings??

You'll need to change the pistons for low compression items and sort out fueling/management.

I think it might work out more £ than a US STi 2.5
