My 94 WRX is exactly the same, if it's rained over night or its a damp morning, it starts then starts coughing, and judders on and off until its really warm.
When it judders I put my foot down a bit then suddenly it stops and I end up shooting forward!

Unless there is a technical reason for this, I'm assuming its just where it is damn and it takes longer to dry/warm up than usual.

Yah it is an only-in-the-wet issue for me too, i.e. not the cold or frosty or whatever. Specifically after rainfall.

Mine starts without bother but lurches and judders until the engine is warm / dry and the temps are up. Seems to be a fact of life rather than a problem.

Would this possibly apply across the board? (plug leads)

You would'nt happen to have an induction kit sat right under an open bonnet vent as I did.

This was the cause of my problem.
I worked this out, as everytime I washed the car it acted the same way as it would if it had pi55ed down.

If this is the case a cover over the vent (as should be there anyways) should really go under the vent.

If not, plug leads

You mean a cover under the bonnet that stops water coming in the scoop???

I take your point about washing the car being as if it has pissed down, ya see...

Hmmmm the plot thickens, Watson

Depends if your car has individual coil packs or leads. Depends what year it is and if it's a Uk or not.
