Wiper assembly clonking

Wiper assembly clonking
Hi I am having the wonky windscreen wiper syndrome windscreen wipers move to much of an arc and hit the A-post and come too far down and hit the bottom of the screen.
Having checked, the link from the motor arm to the 1st wiper arm mechanism has worn where it has a bushing between the motor and linkage rod. This allows the wiper arms too much play.
Been in to the dealers and can get a complete new wiper linkage assembly or just the worn part of the assembly the linkage between motor and 1st wiper arm.
Due to cost would rather just replace the worn linkage rod as that is the one that takes the pounding from the wiper motor arm. Haven’t worked out though how to separate the linkage rod from the 1st wiper mechanism. Can see it under the scuttle panel but can’t work out how they stay to together by bolt ? or riveted etc
Looking at the pic I scanned below
The single rod part number 86527A is available from Subaru for about £12, and the complete linkage for about £55. Trying to work out how to disconnect that single rod from the end that is not on the motor
