It will not be your block (wether open, closed, or semi closed) thats the limiting factor unless you have quality forged pistons and all the other bits to support 500 BHP.

It will be your pistons and you need to advise whats in it. Certain STI pistons can run up to 1.5 safely, WRX ones less.

How do you know its a closed deck?

I have a '93 WRX running 1.45 bar peak on the oe internals and standard TD05, Apexi mapped by Andy F. Nobody has ever mentioned that running this will cause problems. Obviously I have uprated the fueling system to cope

Indeed Andy said it could take more, were it not for me factoring in some gearbox longevity.

Used Apexi PFC & Commander cost me £450, Andy was £240 plus vat to map it. You will need a boost control kit to run in excess of 1.1 bar (I have an Apexi AVC-R).

Fueling:

550cc Injectors (440 would do)
Fuel lab Regulator
FSE Fuel Pump

Your top mount intercooler will become restrictive at around 300 bhp and you might want some ported oe headers as these give an excellent improvement.

It soon mounts up to £££££s

440's are yellow topped. 380's which came on early classics are grey.

Yellow top 440: Sti V3 for sure, mine were.
They were maxed out @ 315 bhp, so best go for some 550cc.
