head tightning
Hi guy's
I'm just as we speak putting my two heads back on and working through the manual settings now it seems a bit odd as it gives the following tourque and degree angles following the combination as
1.tighten to 29nm
2. tighten to 69nm
3. backoff to 180 Degree's
4. backoff to another 180 Degree's(is this correct as all i seem to have done is undo them????)
5.tighten to 29nm
6.tighten to 80-90 Degree's
7.tighten 40-45 Degree's
8.tighten 1 and 2 bolts to 40-45 Degree's
is this the correct procedure as i just find it strange that you tighten the bolts then virtually un-do them to tighten them again
please help dont want to go any further till i am sure this is correct
cheers guys

I'm not much help sorry, but when I was "on the tools" until the year 2000 I heard of some "strange" new torque sequences and they were to do with stretching the new (manufacturer recomended) head bolts, so it dosn't sound too strange to me with new engines being more lightweight now, than then. If your info is from a reputable source I see no reason to doubt it, check out about new studs/bolts just in case. hopefully someone will give you a better reply.
