Default Type R or not?

Thinking of getting a type r in the new year and was wondering if they are prone to things going wrong, particularly with the engine and drivetrain. Whats the reliability like?

Cheers in advance if anyone can help

rocker cover gaskets are a common fault on 1998 models as Subaru didnt use gasket sealant. Cheap to fix, no big deal.

piston slap, again a common fault on the 1998 model. This should have been fixed by dealer.

Other than that, nothing goes wrong if (like all performance cars) they are looked after.
