Default low boost

Can a dodgy actuator be causing my 94 wrx to drop back boost to 0.5 bar on odd occasions......the car boosts fine for weeks and then on the odd occasion it will drop back a little and then slowly creep upto above 0.5 bar slowly up toward the 0.6 and 0.7 bar.
im thinking about takingthe actuator off to check it out and spray a lil lubrication on it and see what happens and check the rod for play.
how easy are these to take off??

Nightmare if the heatshield is still on, I would check out the boost solenoid and clean it, loads of posts on here to do that, check all your pipework too.
