exhaust wrapping

not totally nec but better all the same get it from ebay . stops heat entering engine bay and keeps the hot gasses in the exhaust ( i was once told hot gasses flow better if i am wrong slap my wrist ) anyone

Totally right, wrap helps keep heat in exhaust which improves flow and therefore spool..also saves electrical items as engine bay cooler. I've got it all wrapped including the down pipe. I think "they" recommend not to cover cats though...as temps inside cats tend to be very high and the internal parts aren't the most robust - I'd still wrap it though.

The only prob with exhaust wrapping is if you have an oil or petrol leak and it soaks into the wrapping it is near impossible to put out should it catch fire! I'd consult you insurance company first!

you can get heat resistant sprays, usually available at the same place you buy the wrap.
THere's a thread in 'general' which mentions that the later PPP cats do come with inbuilt shielding.
Overheating of the cat is also bad as it can break up.
THat is why you have the EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp) monitor in the up-pipe iof the WRX (which is catted). It sends out a CEL if things get too hot as the cat can break up and destroy the turbo blades
