Question Crank and con rods?

I have a 1995 WRX STI RA which i have done the big end bearings on. On inspection by my friend at subaru the crank is screwed so i need a new one and new con rods. He is finding out the price and part numbers for me today. Does anyone have any second hand ones in good condition for sale? Has anyone got any good suggestions on where to get them from second hand as i am on a bit of a tight budget?

I hope some one can help.

Thanks Chris

might just be easier to see if you can get another bottom end complete?

You have a choice here imo, you can either:

A. Buy from someone reputable like API who will not rip you off with a pile of crap.

or

B. Look on ebay and take a chance of what you can find on there.

I think that this would be a much better option in the long run than rebuilding an already shafted block? just my two penny worth

Only problem is this car is going to get some serious stick thats why i went for the STI RA in the first place as it has a stronger engine. If i rebuild it i will know its sound and be able to take some punishment.

That sounds like a good idea i would have to sit down and work out how much it would cost.

Would still be really interested if any one has a second hand crank and rods but i dont know the part number until tomorrow when my mate gets an email from japan.

it would still be an idea just to speak to API to get a reference price on an STI bottom end i would have thought, you may save yourself a lot of grief if there isn't much in it?

Obviously 2nd hand bits should be a lot cheaper but then you have the question mark on the integrity of the seller and the components, most on here wouldn't sell you bad bits i would have thought, but there are those few who don't give a toss and would rip you off without a second thought.

to be honest if its gonna be getting some stick, your better of with rebuilt or new over second hand. Second hand is a big risk as you dont know how its been run/treated.

Do it right, pay once.....

Thansk for the advice im going down that route of getting all the proper bits now which will be a lot more money but as you say it will be sound and i know it will be able to take the abuse.

Just in the process of talking to API.
