Default better running with unpluged lamba

hi i have got a 95 wrx had a problem with a lumpy coldstart unpluged the lamba for some reason and now the car starts and runs fine would this susgest that my lamba is knackered or is it some other problem thanks

Lambda sensor as per here

The car is using the base Map with the Lambda unplugged so no variation in fuel etc with the Ecu interpreting the signals from the sensor.
