will a 260hp ecu fit a 240hp 93wrx ???
Hi,
I have a 1993 wrx which I am led to believe is 240hp as standard can a 260hp ecu be fitted from a 94/95 car will this give it an extra 20hp if so is it a simple job to change ????
Thanks Marc

If you mean the Z4 or Z5 ecu then yes straight replacement.
The ecu sits underneath the passenger footwell under a panel, remove the panel and you will see the ecu (will have U8 or W6 written on it there is another but can't remember it).
Unscrew the ecu from the bulkhead and take the 4 wiring plugs off it (you may need a flat head screwdriver) then fit the Z4 its obvious which plugs go where.
Refitting is opposite of taking off, but make sure when you replace the panel over the ecu no wires are being caught by the panel as its quite sharp.
Took me about 20 mins and for the price you pay it does make quite a difference ( i paid £80).
Just a quick edit you have to remove the plastic bit off the sill to pull the carpet back.

U8 - what BHP in WRX? is it 240 or 260?
I have just replaced my 1996 UK wagon with a 1994 WRX engine (running a TD05 Turbo) The ECU that came with the engine is an U8, what BHP should the car be running at..I read the 1994 WRX was 260PS...little confused about the PS...I assume it is not the same a BHP?
What BHP will the U8 be? (my UK ECU is a 7D)
Thanks
H

multiply the PS figure by 0.9864 to reach the bhp total, or bhp by 1.0139 to get back to PS
Basically it is the same as DIN.....but I'm still trying to work out the PS of the 1994 WRX with a U8 ECU....

answered my own question on PS - still after PS for WRX
