Default How much boost

just wondering what boost people are running on newage wrx's with standard internals. The reason i ask is i want more power, im running a vf34 mapped to 1.25 bar but when i spoke to powerstation about increasing it they said they wouldn't recomend it on standard internals. But when i smoke to another well known mapper he said he takes it to 1.4 bar. So just wondering what has eveyone else got theres mapped to?

been running over 1.3 for 2 years 1.4 for the last 10 month but on a bigger turbo than a td04

I wouldnt fall in to the trap of listerning to what everyone has on here and then going back telling your mapper he's got it wrong - If your are happy with the power don't think you are missing out

remember air gives the ft lbs and timming gives the bhp

td04, 1,3 bar. WRX ´01. Fine for 2 years like this. Incl. several trackdays hitting the limiter (NOT reccomendable, but before I got the shiftlight).

There is no need to stress the engine with 1.4 bar if you can acheive the same results with less boost though. It's not all about boost.

Bob Rawle mapped mine to 1.4 BAR about three years ago and it's still going strong, even though I've been in there fiddling with the map myself since. (late classic)

Might be worth doing a few other mods first for "peace of mind" rather than out and out power increase.
Front mounted intercooler for example.

VF34 and a ecutek, I assume you have around 310-315 at the mo then?

Andy

My car is mapped to 1.2 ish i believe, from wha Richard Bulmar told me. That too is VF34, and he says the same about just being careful with WRX internals. BUT his own car is mapped higher and has been ok for ages like it. He was honest enough to say he would be happier mapping a customers car at 1.2 ish to be safe, and for longevity really.
aint got to a rolling road yet though to find out for sure whats going off, LOL.

Bob mapped both my VF35 (and the previous TD04) to 1.4 so with one turbo or another my 05 WRX has been running 1.4 for 18+ mths. VF 35 still holds 1.3 at 6k..!

It seems some mappers are more confident about how much boost to run safely and as far as I'm concerned Bob knows how much that is..

1.35 peak, settling down to 1.3 and tailing off to 1.2 at the top end IIRC.

Mapped by Bob, what he says goes as far as I'm concerned!

Good guess, 311bhp to be precise with 385 Nm of torque which i believe is only about 290 ft lbs.

Default BOOST

Had MY00 mapped by powerstation boosting at 1.25 (vf28), i think its called playing safe.dont blame them.
I wonder if they would increase boost to 1.4 on request.
