Default Ticking noise

I have an Impreza WRX ppp on a 52 plate uk

Ever since I have had it there has been an annoying ticking noise coming from under the bonnet, it is present at idle and when I bring the revs up the rate of the ticking increases too.

I have just had a 50,000 mile service and nothing was mentioned. Is it any thing to worry about?

Is it the injectors you can hear ? as they make a ticking and get faster as engine speed increases . If you rev it then listen as engine slows down , ecu should put injectors onto over run so ticking should stop briefly .

If the noise is coming from a little black box situated on the drivers side of the engine close to the air filter and shock absorber its the wastegate solenoid.
If you put your hand on it and rev the engine you should feel it.
My car does the same and i am told that this is nothing to worry about. It clicks because the rubber mount that it is attached to goes hard with time and transfers the clicking noise rather than soaking it up.
