Default feel very stupid...

Right, I've just added some oil to my wrx 06. Problem - I have knocked the oil cap into the engine bay, and I think it is now sitting on the tray under the engine, although I can't see it..... How easy is it to get the tray off? I don't have any ramps and have stuck my head under the car & it looks like it is held on by 4 screws in each corner. Not sure if there is space under the car for my hand and a screwdriver anyway.

My only other option would be, I guess, to buy one of those 'fits all' oil caps from a petrol station, hope it does actually fit my wrx and then drive to a garage to pay somone to get the oil cap for me. Not sure if driving it with the oil cap loose in the tray would be a good idea though?

As you can imagine I am feeling very stupid and would welcome any advice!

Hi Mate,

Very simple to remove. Theres bolt in the wheel arch each side. Bolts along the bumper and a couple of bolts and clips at the back of the Shield. To my knowloedge, garages don't sell "Fit All" oil caps but I have seen "Fit All" petrol caps. tbh not worth trying to find Universal cap when the correct one is there, just spend 10 minutes removing the shield to get the proper one back on.

Cheers mate. Have managed to get the cap out by banging the tray and getting the cap to bounce along until I could get my fingers to it via the 'trap door' that I found in the tray.
