Default how quick will 280hp be?

hi there. i am getting my my99 impreza remapped with a power fc soon (jolly green monster). was just wondering what sort of performance levels will 280hp on a TD04 give me. 0-60 times, 50-70 and so on.also is the drivability increased off boost and how about fuel consumption figures.
cheers.

I got mine mapped by Simon last year, full decat and induction kit and a small vf10 turbo. Fuel economy has increased (I get an average of about 40 extra miles per tank), driveability is unreal just instant go when the loud pedal is pressed. I reckon mine would only be kicking out about 250 - 260 bhp but it is a totally different animal. Im now trying to get funds together for a tdo5 and a fmic. Dont know about times etc but it will be quick

Its not just about bhp with a remap, its more the general driveability of the car. Id much rather have a 250bhp map with good driveability and without stressing any of the components than a 280bhp peak which you can only use at 5800rpm acheived by pushing the boost pressure.

The mild remap I had on my bugeye made a huge difference in smoothness all through the rev range. Mid range power (60-90 in 5th) on the motorway vastly improved, consumption stayed about the same. It was just a much nicer car to live with.

Dont stick a VTA dump valve on tho, undoes all the good work in the smooth running department.

Very quick real world car. Ballpark figures at LetsTorqueBHP - Home These of course assume that you rag the nuts off the car, just as any manufacturers figures do!

Do bare in mind that 280bhp will most likely be a maximum with the TD04; you may get slightly less- nothing to worry about. The benefits of this turbo are that it will spool very quickly and the power will be there lower in the rev range than with the larger turbos. The downside is that it will back off earlier in the rev range than the larger turbos to avoid overheating. Fuel consumption will most likely be better for off boost driving and the car will be noticeably smoother.

I think you'll be very pleased. You can always go for a bigger turbo later if you wish!

Don't forget it's not all about horses.....it's all about the torque....

cheers guys. i dont rev the nuts off my car, only to about 5500rpm (she's getting on a bit!) so top end power not important, just looking to get a car that pulls hard from low down for quick overtaking ect. have got a bigger turbo sitting in my garage for next year (VF24) which i plan fitting with some ported headers, fuel pump and regulator and maybe a fmic (or sti tmic) but will have to wait till after christmas (apparently i should be spending my money on the kids!) women, they just dont understand.

*nods* true, true.

BTW Tripple O G also right, torque is the thing that often raises the smiles on the road! You'll notice a significant gain in this respect.
