Default Fitting a superchip?

Hi,

Does anyone know how to fit a superchip? Have the chance to get one similar to this at less than 50 quid. I know its not the preferred option and i will eventually get a powerfc but would this be ok in the mean time?

Its much like this one...

eBay.co.uk: Superchips ECU chip Impreza STI/WRX more Power (item 130050084294 end time 25-Nov-06 19:45:00 GMT)

Cheers

Nicky

Hehe im sure they are lol, i certainly wouldnt pay 500 quid for one. But for the 38 quid (i bought it yes, but i can always sell it on) i cant argue even if i only get 20bhp... for less than the price of a tank of juice...

That looks like it's one of the early superchips which is just a fuel cut defencer they were fitted along with a bleed valve, The robbing Barstewards sell those for silly money, I doubt you will have any Bhp increse just fitting that alone !!!!

Oh pants. was just researching it and it looks like it interrupts the map sensor. I assumed it would maybe just tweak the boost signal to make the turbo boost a little higher while using the rest of the standard ecu protection.

bleep!

oh well, guess i'll have to do what the robbing barstewards have done and sell it back on...

So can anyone confirm whether i would need to install a bleed valve/electronic boost controller to make this work? Or does it just make the ecu boost a little higher by tampering with the MAP signals?

for the extra danger you will put the engine in, its really not worth touching it mate.....sell it on, or bin it, it will work out cheaper!
