Default What engine oil to use ?.

.. as title, I have a Subaru Impreza WRX '03 model with PPP fitted.
30k service is coming up and want to get the oil ready, but which do I go for ?.
Have been recommended Silkolene 5w40 by one firm but then when you look at others they state oil like 15w50 or 10w60 .
So what is the general opinion, would I run at risk by using the wrong oil in this engine or are any of the above specs suitable ?.

Help appreciated .

Mark.

With winter coming on I would certainly not put in anything heavier than a 10w The 5w/40 Silkolene sounds perfect as does the Motul, as Tony suggests. I use Millers CFS 5w/40 in winter in my 03 STi

The 10/40 semi Subaru recommend will be fine. Anything better will be even finer. Millers CFS 10/40 here.. Don't get too hung up on it............

Looks like 5w40 is the favoured choice.
