crunching gears

alright fo9lks, got an 02 wrx sti type uk

struggling to get 3rd gear and all other gears are stiff/sticky any ideas what this could be?just so as i have a rough idea before i put it into garage to get checked?

have you checked the gearbox oil? via the gearbox dipstick?
