I was led to believe that they only last 30-40k, on my 98 mine went after about 35 although the ecu didn't show up a fault until a few k miles after...

You can test them as far as i know by using a digital multimeter on the signal wire, when you are driving (better if you test the wire inside the car lol) you should get about 0.9volts on WOT. If in doubt, buy a generic one with the same number of wires and cut the oem plug off, solder onto new one. mine only cost 38 quid...

Check if you have any error codes (connect the 2 plastic clips under the steering) Three long flashes and two short (32) on the check engine light means a shot O2 sensor.

Don't get the part from Subaru. When mine went they quoted £350+vat (part only)

Its a bit of a pain to fit on the early cars (its bottom left, as you face the engine, where the headers come together before the uppipe).

hi m8 you should be able to tell if lambda has packed in as car will burn more fuel and exhaust will become very sooty at idle start up may idle roughly as if a plug is down! as jay says don`t buy scooby sensor they are a ripoff and no beter than a universal one from Just Lambda, Suppliers of zirconia and titania lambda sensors by post they have a webpage full of useful info you want a three wire zirconia sensor for your model i think the cod was 983 not sure have to check but a good upgrade is to go for the four wire universal one as this has an extra earth/ground wire rather than using the exhaust mounting as a poor ground point just earth it to body or better still battery neg. you can also found the zirconia sensor on ebay for about £30 del hope this helps! i have wiring diag for wire conections if you do go this route pm if you like and will send you details. rgds c.

Had a look on ebay, £15 + pp for a 4 wire lamda sensor, mine is only a 3 wire one on the newage but might just buy this one anyway £25 better than £250 from the Stealers!

If it isnt broke then its not worth changing it. It does nothing to your fuelling anyway when on boost as fuelling is taken care then by the map

Hi, i might be wrong (no comments plz lol) but if you have a 3 wire you have to replace it with a 3 wire. Two white wires are for the heater element and black is for the output signal, a 4 wire will prob be signal in and signal out so im not sure how you could wire it up....

The 4th wire is an earth. 3-wire sensors use the exhaust as an earth.
