Question loss of power then stall when cold any

Just bought a 02 STi prodrive and when you start it on a cold engine it's fine until you drive it for about a minute then it seems to loose power (as if you have lost a plug?) then it just stalls if your at a junction unless you left foot brake and keep the revs up, it starts again fine and the problem has gone. Had it in and they said its not the temp sensor but it maybe the airflow meter, bit reluctant to buy one as they are £250.
Please Please Help

Thanks for the replies, There are no other problems ather than first start up. The engine runs fine no idle fluctuations or boost problems though.
