Default mapping advise please

Hi,
Appoligies if im posting in the wrong place. I'm hoping someone can explain (in very simple terms) how many different types of mapping options there? I have seen talk of a tek3, does that mean there is a tek 2 and 1? also i have been told if I change the downpipe, centre section and back box on my02 wrx I should change the filter while im there and get it mapped. how soon after changing the exhaust is it needing to be mapped? any advise welcomed.
Thanks

What year Scooby do you have mate?

If it's a post 99 scooby and you want to stick with the std ECu, then a TEk 3 (i.e a custom map of your OEM ECU) is the one you want.

The next important choice you make is who does it!

I'd suggest Bob Rawle

Scoobydroo

In reality you only have one pragmatic option for remapping your MY 02 bugeye and that's EcuTeK (forget the numbers).......the mapper simply alters the ECU to run the car better

For the MY02 bugeye first timer it's best to swap the centre section and back box, stick in a better filter and look forward to a leap from the 215 BHP that the car came with LOL

As NS04 quite rightly pointed out.......PICK THE MAPPER FIRST, and take it from there

Where are you in the country ?

I have been running a full decat including up and down pipe on my 02WRX and induction kit all without remap for nearly two years.

No probs at all, however to get the full benefit from said mods a remap wouild be required.

Mocom racing are remapping newage ECU for arounf £450, and there is a group buy running for even further discounts.

Check

Hope that helps

Hello people,

Thanks for all the advise so far.

Scoobydroo where are you ............like it !
Im in Chichester - Sussex.......

I have heard either Bob Rawle (please excuse the speeling) lol (spelling) or Andy ....................... sorry forgot the surname. but these are the 2 people seem to rate. I aint got a clue as to where they are in the country.

Its good to hear that these mods can be done without the urgent need to be mapped.

Please please keep the advise coming as to what i should be doing or giving some thought to doing.

Andy..... is Andy Forrest and he is in Scotland, although I believe he will travel if groups get together. Bob Raule is in Swindon I believe, although I think he sometimes works in London?

Scoobydroo

I use Bob Rawle, he maps from Swindon but also for Roger Clark Motorsport (Leicester) and at Bruntingthorpe runway for the big power boys

If you are thinking of using him then PM him or e-mail him and ask for advice. Drop into the Group buy section as BRD sometimes to special offers

If you can't find his e-mail then PM me and I'll oblige

Please note.....his popularity might mean a bit of a wait !!
